Huvilakatu
You can't exactly leave "the most colorful street in Helsinki" off a photo list, can you? Huvilakatu translates to "villa street", and as can be imagined, these candy-colored castles don't come cheap. We recommend stopping by the Design Museum first and then taking the short walk from there to Huvilakatu.
Fortress Island Suomenlinna
If you are in Helsinki for a while, you should not miss the fortress island Suomenlinna at the gates of the Finnish capital. In winter there is a ferry every 40 minutes to the island, where you can stay a good 3 hours. A great photo motive is this tunnel directly at the ferry, which achieves great color contrasts at the blue hour.
Regatta
You'd have a hard time finding a coffee place in Helsinki cuter than Café Regatta. Built in 1887 and standing by a lakeside, it's Scandinavian hut that's as pretty as a postcard! It's also only a five minute walk from the Sibelius monument. It's proudly been serving filter coffee to the public for decades along with their fresh from the oven cinnamon buns which they are famous for. Here you can get cosy inside their hut with coffee, or if it's warm sit in the sun by the lakeside. As well as coffee and cakes, they sell sausages to roast on the open fire with friends. It is a pretty photo location, but always remember to support local businesses and buy something from their stall!
Solo Sokos Hotel Torni
After a long day of exploring Helsinki, you may want to relax, and enjoy a typical Finnish cocktail. If so, you can't miss the view from Solo Sokos Hotel Torni. To reach the hotel's rooftop bar, you'll have to take the hotel elevator to the top floor and then walk up a short spiral staircase. In the winter, Ateljée Bar is the perfect escape from the cold! Yes, the drinks may be a bit pricey (alcohol is expensive in Finland in general), but the free panoramic view of the city skyline in unbeatable.
Uspenski Cathedral
Beside the cathedral the Uspenksi Cathedral is one of the most famous sights. Many visitors who are in town on a cruise ship visit the cathedral as it is very close to the harbour. If you are in Helsinki in winter, you can already record the sunset around 2 p.m. and create a variety of compositions.
Kuuma
Kuuma Café is undoubtedly a hotspot for all Helsinki hipsters as well as those looking to take the perfect foodie photo. Apart from their delicious coffee, Kuuma serves an all day breakfast, with one of their most popular options being avocado toast. With plenty of seating room, we recommend grabbing a cup of coffee here after a long day of exploring the city. However, keep in mind that this locale is closed on Mondays.
Allas Sea Pool
In Finnish culture, mental and physical relaxation are highly valued, thus leading to the large presence of saunas in the country. Allas Sea Pool has the most alluring location: next to the ocean and Market Square. Between the contrast of the water and the cityscape, this sea pool is a great spot for a photo!
Helsinki Cathedral
The Cathedral is the landmark of Helsinki. From almost everywhere in the city you can see its green dome. Therefore you should not miss the cathedral on your way through Helsinki on pictures. And here you will find plenty of opportunities to integrate it into the cityscape. Especially at Christmas time, the cathedral forecourt is beautiful to look at, as there is also a Christmas tree set up here, which puts the cathedral directly into a season and mood.
