Malmö, the third biggest city of #Sweden did not always belong to this country. When the city was founded it was part of the Danish Crown.

There are countless ways to get to Malmö but the most popular way by far is to drive over the famous #ØeresundBridge, which connects Sweden and Denmark. The Øeresund Bridge is the world's longest cable-stayed bridge for combined road and rail transport and almost eight kilometers long. The bridge is well known from the very popular TV series #TheBridge and when Sweden hosted the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest it was used to symbolize the strong connection between Sweden and the rest of Europe.

Gamla Väster

Gamla Väster is #Malmös Old Town and located between #Kungsparken and #Stortorget. It has a lot of small historical buildings and tiny houses that host art galleries, small hotels, cafes and young dynamic start up companies. Unlike other old town districts, there are almost no stores in Gamla Väster. It is a place for creativity and #inspiration. Many of the small houses have been refurbished in the late 1980s and have a unique look. Check it out.

Lilla torg

#LillaTorg is a charming romantic square in the middle of the old town, you can feel the vitality and the pulse of the city here. In summer, cafés and restaurants cover the pavement with tables and chairs, while at night, trendy clubs open their doors. A travel tip for everyone who wants to feel local and #free.

Västra Hamnen

In contrast to the almost medieval looking Gamla Väster, #VästraHammen is a new and super modern district about one kilometer from the Old Town and was built on a former shipyard directly by the sea. This district was the first project of this kind in #Scandinavia. It is climate-neutral and received an environmental certificate due #sustainability concept. Västra Hammen‘s energy supply is completely self-sufficient and based completely on wind and solar energy as well as biogas. The buildings are air-conditioned by solar collectors and heat pumps as well as sea and ground water. The entire district is full of green areas, ponds, artificial watercourses and fountains. In some places there are bathing places that invite you to jump into the waters of the Øresund and the #Ribersborgbeach.

A beach? In sweden? White sand and a calm sea which invites you for a swimming session? Sounds almost unbelievable until you see it. Ribersborg Beach is a beautiful beach right at the Øeresund. Malmö locals just call him #Ribban. The beach is located between Västra Hamnen in the north and #Limhamn in the south. It is about five kilometres long and has an over 100 year old cold bath house with sauna and restaurant. The cold bathing house is northern Europe's largest bathing house.
