Rather you are interested in the colonial cities or want to relax at some of the best beaches, Barbados is the right place for any traveler!

This guide will show you the best places for a road trip on Barbados!

East and North

The east coast is best known for the surfing spots. But be aware that there are many parts that are prohibited to swim in! The beaches are rather rocky different to the ones next to the Caribbean. One highlight that you shouldn`t miss on your trip is the Saint Nicholas Abbey, a preserved plantation house built in 17th century, that allows you to take a look into the way life was on the island years ago. Next to Saint Nicholas Abbey, there is a #rainforest, that is also definitely worth a visit. Going to the North of the island you can the “Animal Flower Cave”. It is a cave right next to the Ocean with unique cliffs that were formed over the years. In the waterers of the cave live small sea anemones that are called animal flowers. To visit the cave, you can take a guided tour that will also show you the way to a small #pool to paddle in the cave!

West

This part of the island faces the Caribbean and has many lovely beaches! However, it is also known for its many #luxury resorts and villas. At the time of the British colonization, the west coast was travel destination for the rich. Today, it is the place to go to for wealthy travelers. But there are also different accommodations for average travelers with affordable prices. The probably best-known beach is the “Paynes Bay Beach”. It is not only one of the most #instagrammable beaches but also one of the best ones to snorkel or dive and to discover the underwater world to maybe spot some turtles. Definitely a unique adventure you shouldn’t miss! The town Speightstown on the west coast is a small town that reminds of the colonial times but also has some rough edges. To find out more about the life on this tropical island, it is the perfect town.

South

Barbados capital and UNESCO world heritage site, Bridgetown. This city has a lot to offer! From colonial buildings to local culture! There are many shopping opportunities, bars, restaurants, parks, markets and #museums, like the Parliament building! The beaches around Bridgetown are also worth a visit. Pebbles Beach is one of the most known one and is pretty close to the city center. If you are looking for a less full beach you can go to Miami Beach. This Beach is divided in two parts by a rock and is great to spend a chill afternoon by the lovely Caribbean. Do you love drinking #Rum and are interested in how it's made? Then make sure to go to the Mount Gay Rum Tour. The guides open the tour with a rum punch and let you know everything you need to know about Barbados traditional drink!
