What are the Japanese Alps?

The Japanese Alps are first and foremost a true paradise for hikers and nature lovers. The mountain range is mostly located in Nagano Prefecture on the main Japanese island of Honshū. The so-called Nagano Alps are divided into three areas: First, the Northern Alps with breathtaking landscapes and ski resorts; second, the Central Alps with beautiful pristine high valleys; and third, the Southern Alps with several hiking trails in the Akaishi Mountains.
