Highlights:

Water Activities on Lake Bled:

The lake is excellent for a refreshing dip, with temperatures reaching 20-25°C (68-77°F) in the summer. Paddleboard, kayak, and rowboat rentals are also available to explore the lake from the water.

Hiking Around Lake Bled:

Lake Bled has many trails on its shores that offer beautiful views for walks and hikes of varying difficulties. A popular route to follow is Mala Osojnica, which takes about an hour to complete and rewards you with the stunning scenery of the Lake and the Julian Alps.

Bled Castle:

Perched on a cliff overlooking the turquoise waters of Lake Bled, Bled Castle is a highlight of any visit to the area. You can reach it by taking a short, roughly 15-minute hike or driving. Built over 900 years ago, the castle has been beautifully preserved. In addition, it is home to a museum that provides insight into the castle's fascinating past. After exploring the castle, try some traditional Slovenian cuisine at the castle's restaurant, which serves dishes made with locally sourced ingredients. Enjoy a great selection of local wines with your meal, or you can choose to do a wine tasting.

Vintgar Gorge:

To take a refreshing break from the lake's summer heat, head out to Vintgar Gorge. It is located about 4 km (2.5 miles) northwest of Lake Bled and is home to a wooden walkway that follows the Radovna River. The walkway leads you through the gorge, past dramatic waterfalls, pools of crystal clear water and steep rock walls. The path is an easy hike suitable for all levels, and there are many benches along the way to rest and take in the views.

Lake Bohinj:

For a day trip from Lake Bled, visit Lake Bohinj in the Triglav National Park. While Lake Bled may be more well-known, Lake Bohinj offers equally stunning views and fewer crowds. A highlight at Lake Bohinj is the cable car to Mount Vogel, from which you can enjoy an incredible panoramic vista of the surrounding area. At the top, numerous hiking trails cater to all levels of ability.

Bled Island:

Located in the middle of the lake, this tiny island is home to a 17th-century church that boasts stunning views of the surrounding mountains and water. To get there, hop on a traditional Pletna boat, a flat-bottomed wooden boat steered by a single oarsman or row there yourself. Once you arrive, climb the 99 stone steps to the church and make a wish by ringing the church bell.

Bohinj Railway:

If you're looking for a unique way to explore the picturesque surroundings of Lake Bled, the Bohinj Railway is a must-do activity. The scenic train route takes you through Slovenia's stunning Julian Alps, past deep valleys, glistening streams, and charming villages.
