- Getting There: The closest major airport to Trolltunga is Bergen Airport, about 190 kilometers away. You can take a bus from Bergen to Odda, the nearest town to Trolltunga. The drive, full of breathtaking scenery, takes about four to five hours. Once in Odda, public buses go directly to the starting point of the Trolltunga hike.
- Getting Around: The Trolltunga area is best explored on foot, as there are many hiking trails in addition to the famous Trolltunga hike itself. Biking or driving around Odda and surrounding areas is necessary to explore the area to its fullest potential.
- Where to Stay: Odda is the most convenient base for your Trolltunga adventure. Here you'll find a mix of family-run bed and breakfasts, cozy cabins and luxurious hotels.
- How Long to Visit: A stay of 3-5 days is optimal for experiencing the natural beauty of Trolltunga and surroundings. This allows enough time for the day-long Trolltunga hike, which usually takes 8-12 hours, and to explore other attractions in the area.
- When to Visit: The best time for a Trolltunga adventure is during the summer months (June - August) when the weather is relatively stable. This is also the only time the hike is open for solo hikers. During winter, you must join an experienced guide to show you the way, as snow and unpredictable weather conditions can otherwise make the journey dangerous.

The Hike to Trolltunga:
The 28-kilometer (17 miles) round-trip hike is a challenging yet rewarding experience that winds through rugged landscapes with striking panoramas at every turn. Starting in Skjeggedal, the trail climbs through a mix of rocky and forested terrain where you can catch views of the lush Hardangervidda plateau and the Ringedalsvatnet Lake. Stop at the Mågelitopp plateau for a breathtaking view of the mountains. The Trolltunga trail requires stamina and perseverance. Once you've arrived, setting foot on Trolltunga will fill you with a sense of accomplishment, and the panoramic views of the fjord, glaciers and mountains will be well worth every step of the way.
Oddadalen:
Oddadalen is a beautiful valley with a series of spectacular waterfalls. Låtefossen, with its twin cascades merging into a roaring river, is arguably the most dramatic of the three. Surrounded by lush greenery and an archaic stone bridge, the view of Låtefossen is like a scene from a fairy tale. Further up the valley, you'll find the secluded Tjørnadalsfossen. Finally, there is Vidfossen, where the cascade plunges dramatically into the river below.
Folgefonna National Park:
Folgenfonna National Park is home to one of Norway's largest glaciers and offers a variety of activities. Take a guided glacier hike that brings you close to the ancient ice formations. If you like to ski, you can enjoy the summer ski center on the glacier. The park also has a variety of trails from which to enjoy stunning views of the fjords and the glacier itself.
