Places of interest

Our first highlight for a visit to Kuala Lumpur is at the same time the most famous landmark of the city: the Petronas Towers. They belong to the top Kuala Lumpur sights. With their breathtaking 452 metres in height, the Twin Towers sit enthroned above the Malaysian capital and are visible from afar from the entire surrounding area. A visit to the Petronas Towers is a must on a trip to Kuala Lumpur. On a tour, the guides will take you up to the #Skybridge, a glass bridge that connects the two towers at a height of 170 metres. You also have the opportunity to visit the viewing platform on the 86th floor, which offers a magnificent 360° panoramic #view of the city. For some time the towers even held the record for the world's tallest building and symbolise Malaysia's technical and economic progress. But that's not all, at the foot of the #Petronas Towers is the Suria KLCC, a 6-storey #shopping centre where you can find all the major brands of the world.

Kuala Lumpur is the city of great views and so our second must-see destination in the Malaysian capital is Menara Kuala Lumpur, the highest TV tower in the country. At the top there is a Sky Walk and a fantastic view over the city

The Batu Caves, 15km north of Malaysia's capital Kuala Lumpur, are not only a religious #pilgrimage site for Hindus, but also a must-see for every tourist visiting KL. The #Batu Caves are one of the sights of Kuala Lumpur par excellence! The caves were not really discovered and famous until the end of the 19th century.

A total of 272 steps lead up to the most #famous cave in Malaysia. Attention on the way up: The #monkeys bouncing around there are reaching for anything they can get their hands on. On the forecourt of the stairs of the Batu Caves, next to a beautiful Hindu temple, a golden statue of more than 40 meters height is enthroned. It was completed in 2006 and is now one of the most popular #photo motives and sights in Kuala Lumpur next to the Petronas Towers.

Chinatown is located around Petaling Street, in the center of the city. Compared to the business districts surrounding #Chinatown, this area is much livelier, more #colourful and impressive. A visit is really an #experience for all senses. In Chinatown you will also find the cheapest #food in town. If you have the opportunity, we recommend a visit in the evening. Then Petaling Street turns into a bustling after market. Approximately 40% of all inhabitants of Kuala Lumpur have Chinese roots, so it is hardly surprising that Chinese #culture is deeply rooted in the city.

Brickfield, south of KL Sentral station, is again a completely different world. In this part of Kuala Lumpur you will find Little India. In the streets of #Brickfield, especially in the Jalan Tun Sambanthan, all kinds of Indian products are sold. Thanks to beguiling spices, Bollywood music and of course culinary specialties you can immerse yourself in Indian life with all your senses. Also because of its proximity to KL Sentral, Brickfields has become a popular tourist hotspot in KL.

Best time to travel to Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur is very close to the equator and therefore in the tropical climate zone. This means that there are no real seasons. During the day it is very hot, well over 30 degrees with high humidity, at night it hardly cools down below 25 degrees. Nevertheless, there are times of the year that are more suitable for travelling than others. We recommend a trip in January and February and June to August. In these times it is drier and therefore less humid. 

For a stay in Kuala Lumpur you should plan at least 2-3 days, less becomes too stressful. 

Some facts about Kuala Lumpur

A total of 7 million people live in Kuala Lumpur. It is a colourful, international melting pot of nations and religions, with the largest proportion being Malay, Indian and Chinese. Crime in KL is not a very big problem. You can also walk through the streets in the evening.
