Sevilla - the name alone sounds like music to the ears. The motto of the city is "No me ha dejado" - "It has not left me" and could not be more fitting. #Seville has it all: great historical monuments, charming streets, colourful markets, tranquil parks and amazing tapas bars. With its breathtaking monuments and vibrant mentality, the city has a truly captivating effect on its visitors.

Best time to travel

As Sevilla has a lot to offer, you should bring enough time for your city trip.

The winter in Seville is beautiful. The locals sometimes sleep through the late afternoon and the trees are filled with oranges. The weather is mild and it is the perfect time for hiking.

Already from March on you can enjoy temperatures above 21 degrees in Seville, sometimes even reaching values above thirty degrees. The summers are extremely hot. In general, Seville is one of the hottest cities in Europe and doesn't see much rain. But even if the sky opens up during your visit here, you will not be short of activities. For example, climb the bell tower of the cathedral or party in one of the trendy nightclubs.

Plaza de España

You can find a Plaza de España in many Spanish cities, so also in Sevilla. Nevertheless, this one belongs to the most famous places of Spain. The incredibly large square (it covers 50,000 square metres) was built in 1928 for the Ibero-American Exhibition and is surrounded by fascinating buildings: From the Torre Norte, over the Museo Histórico Militar de Sevilla, up to the Instituto Geografico Nacional - all buildings are characterized by decorations of marble and ceramics from long ago. The Star Wars fans among you probably know the place from the scene where Padme and Anakin arrive on Naboo.

Royal Palace Alcázar

The magnificent building on the Avenida de Menéndez Pelayo combines Arab and Christian architecture and is still used by the Spanish royal family today. As far as the Spanish king is visiting Andalusia, he lives in this property with his family. Also this place is so to speak known from film and television: The royal palace Alcázar is one of the film locations of Game of Thrones.

Since the 14th century, the fortification was continuously extended. Through the mix of styles of the respective times and rulers, an interesting architecture was created. Besides the architecture there is also a gorgeous garden to explore.

Our tip: It is best to reserve tickets for the palace tour in advance and avoid the long queues for the day tickets

Torre del Oro

The tower got its name from the treasures that sailors stored here many years ago, including pure gold. In the 13th century, it also served as a defence tower. Today the dodecagonal tower houses the Museo Naval de Sevilla, a naval museum where you can delve deep into the city's past.

Metropol Parasol

The gigantic wooden construction at the Plaza de la Encanació is a new attraction in the city: The modern wooden mushrooms extend over 150 metres in length and 70 metres in width. Under its roof you will find several shops and restaurants, a market and many open air events. It is the largest wooden building in the world.

The Giralda

The magnificent #Giralda is one of the most beautiful sights in Seville. The #minaret can be seen from far away and was once part of the city's main mosque. The cathedral is considered the greatest work of Gothic #architecture in the world and has been a #UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987.
