Luxembourg  

Luxembourg, a small country in the center of Europe with its capital Luxembourg city! Though it may not be the most known destination to visit, you should plan a visit to Luxembourg and their city center. In this guide we will let you know about the highlights of Luxembourg city and surroundings. Chateau de Clerveaux.

The castle from the Middle Ages was reconstructed and is today a top choice for visitors. The castle holds of Edward Steichen's UNESCO World Heritage-listed photography exhibition Family of Man. The exhibition consists out of hundreds of photographs and can be visited Sundays at 4pm.

Chemin De La Corniche

This balcony also known as the “the most beautiful balcony of Europe” offers unique views over the old town and the Alzette river! This offers you the perfect opportunity to get a view over Luxembourg and to take some #instagrammable pictures.  

Château de Viaden  

The outline of this chateau was almost completely reconstructed in the 20th century. In the first levels the different occupation of the chateau over the centuries is displayed. During your visit you can also see the open-air Byzantine Hall and the Gothic polygonal chapel.

Beaufort Castels

These two castles stand right next to each other and therefore great to visit together. The medieval castle was built in the 11th century and the Renaissance style castle was constructed in the 17th century. Not only are the tours of the castle good to find out about Luxemburg`s history but also the views of the castles are lovely, since their location is in a wooden valley next to the city center.

Grand Ducal Palace

This building is not only the residence for the Grand Duke of Luxembourg and thereby one of the most important ones. It is also known as the loveliest building with its Flemish Renaissance style.

Nearby you can find the Notre Dame, that is Luxembourg's only cathedral.  

 

Other attractions

The Luxembourg city museum is a modern; interactive museum that represents the history of Luxembourg with modern touches as well as the development of the architecture and Luxembourgers in other floors. Besides, The Pfaffenthal Elevator gives you a panoramic view over the Alzette River valley connected to the Ville Haute quarters.

 

Food

Luxemburg has a great variety of food and restaurants. Going from patisseries and chocolate shops and a myriad of restaurants. Some traditional foods are potatoes and sugared pastries. You could try La Distilleries with vegetables of a star chef. Great is as well Ryode restaurant, is another great place to go to.
